Zoom’s live captioning & more from Zoomtopia

Zoom’s annual Zoomtopia was held this week and brought a preview of some truly exciting features. As the hybrid workforce continues to become the standard work model, some of the new features Zoom has on the horizon will provide significant advantages for Zoom users.

The most notable feature Zoom announces was an expansion of their automated closed captioning system. This expansion is likely a result of a startup that specializes in real-time translation that Zoom acquired earlier this year. The expansion extends Zoom’s closed caption capabilities to up to 30 languages with 12 languages available as live translations directly within Zoom meetings. This is an exciting addition for any organizations that require international meetings and communication for their operations.

Zoom announced other notable features such as end-to-end encryption for Zoom Phone as well as an expanded Whiteboard experience that enables users to access Zoom Whiteboard from anywhere such as on the web, in the Zoom app, in a meeting, or in a Zoom Room. Lastly, Zoom is planning to work with Facebook to bring its video conferencing ability and whiteboard feature into Facebook VR.

Regardless of if your organization has standardized on Zoom or another UCC solution, these features are an exciting innovation in the video conferencing space as we continue to see this technology gain more traction in the day-to-day routine of the modern office.
