Using Zoom video for business | Zoom has become a household name during the pandemic this year but that hasn’t slowed them down in terms of innovation. As the workforce continues it’s shift to a hybrid remote/office combination, Zoom has recently announced new enhancements to Zoom Rooms that they believe will assist in that hybrid environment.
Extend your laptop to a touch display: According to Zoom, this allows “A meeting participant sharing their screen to a Zoom Rooms for Touch device can give control to that device, allowing you to make web edits from the larger screen and increase meeting interactivity. This feature has been released on Zoom Rooms for Touch Appliances and will be available on Zoom Rooms for Touch Windows later this year.”
Virtual receptionist/kiosk mode (beta): This enhancement will allow you to provide a contactless experience for your guests upon entry to your facility. Zoom says “Just customize the “Start Meeting” button on a Zoom Rooms for Touch device in your lobby to connect visitors with a receptionist and safely greet them. Zoom Rooms Kiosk Mode is available in beta on all Zoom Rooms for Touch devices. To get access to Zoom Rooms Kiosk Mode beta, please sign up here.”

Save whiteboard to chat (beta): This enhancement will allow you to save and share your whiteboard sessions from a Zoom Rooms for Touch or Zoom for Home device to a Zoom chat as either PDF, JPG or PNG. To obtain access to this beta sign up here.
Zoom admins can control rooms remotely: This enhancement allows IT admins to launch the Zoom Rooms Controller via the admin portal in a web browser and provides them control of the room remotely to provide room and meeting support even when they’re not there.
Transfer a call to an appliance: This enhancement provides users with the ability to seamlessly hand off a Zoom Phone call to a Zoom Rooms Appliance. If the device is in proximity, you can transfer calls among desk phones, mobile phones, desktop PC’s and conference rooms.
Join Breakout Rooms: This enhancement allows Zoom Rooms to be assigned to breakouts as participants.
