A common theme amongst our Vicom blog, articles from our partners, conversations with our clients, and internal communications has been the post-pandemic hybrid work environment. These changes came quicker than anyone would’ve anticipated and as a result, many organizations are still processing and figuring things out.
Here’s what we do know. The remote-work scenario is not a fad or trend, it’s here to stay. That brings with it a unique challenge to enterprise organizations. Considering that in the past, the enterprise existed within a building, in the new distributed workforce, the enterprise needs to go wherever the employees are. Our partners at Extreme Networks have described this as the Infinite Enterprise.
The CTO for Extreme Networks, Nabil Bukhari conceived the concept of the Infinite Enterprise based on three major tenets:
• Infinitely Distributed
• At Scale
Consumer-Centric essentially comes down to the need for Enterprise companies to provide technology solutions that customers want and need. Technology should fit within the customer’s needs as opposed to the customer needing to adapt to the technology.
Nabil describes our society as infinitely distributed. He’s referencing that the workplace now comes to the employee, education is now meeting the student at home, shoppers are now being met with options from their living room as opposed to requiring them to physically visit a storefront. Over the last year, the majority of doctor visits in my household have been virtual as opposed to the traditional visit into the doctor’s office.
Lastly, companies should plan to deliver at scale. This means that services, technology, even staff need to be scalable and reliable to meet the demands of this new hybrid environment we’re collectively working and living in. Extreme Networks believes this starts with the cloud and we agree.
The cloud enables an organization to shift from an enterprise within 4 walls to an infinite enterprise that extends to the variety of places both your employees and your consumers choose to operate.
The changes happening are exciting but they can be challenging if an organization is not adequately prepared to address them. If your organization is ready to make the transition into an infinite enterprise and you’re interested in a demo with Vicom and Extreme Networks, please fill out the form below and we’ll be in communication.
