Last month Zoom provided a great preview of some new and exciting features via their annual Zoomtopia. Let’s dig into some of those features and how they can be a benefit for your organization!
If you attended Zoomtopia or have seen any videos from the event, you’ve already had a preview of the capabilities of Zoom Events. It’s a robust and impressive event platform that is incredibly timely considering the hybrid work environment we’ve all standardized on. Zoom Events provides your organization with better support for multiple-day events, sessions, streaming to the lobby, improved sponsor and networking features plus much more. The goal is here is to create an event experience online that doesn’t sacrifice many of the event features that have become major aspects of traditional in-person events.
Auto-generated captions – This is pretty straightforward. Auto-generated captions or live transcription is now available on all free Zoom accounts.
Attendance Status – Hosts of the Zoom meeting will soon be able to see if the attendees that accepted the meeting invite have joined the meeting. From there, they can send a quick chat message regarding their attendance status. The goal here is to streamline the process of starting meetings faster and avoiding wasted time.
Tow-way Chat in a Waiting Room – Meeting attendees can now get even more engaged while awaiting their meeting to start via two-way chat in the waiting room. Hosts can message the entire room or just specific attendees and attendees can reply.
Stop Incoming Video – Attendees can now stop all incoming video from appearing on screen. This is beneficial both for preventing photo-sensitive overstimulation or to preserve bandwidth for screen sharing.
Optimized for Macbook Pro – Zoom is now optimized for Apple’s newest Macbook Pro and provides an optimized full-screen experience on the new XDR Display.
Other Notable Updates
Integrations with IFTTT and Zendesk – Zoom phone now integrates with IFTTT (enabling users to create automated workflows between Zoom Phone and 600+ pre-integrated apps including Jira, Dropbox, and more). Additionally, users can now seamlessly make and receive Zoom phone calls from within Zendesk, avoiding the constant need for switching back and forth between applications.
Expanded Zoom Phone Certified hardware – Zoom has added more phones and headsets from a variety of manufacturers that are now Zoom Phone certified.
