Broadcast Technology Solutions | Sitting high on the tenth floor of the Norfolk City Hall building, a videographer and media specialist for the city of Norfolk, John Linka, works out of their recently updated broadcast control room. It’s here that the City of Norfolk produces live video content, distributed both on cable television and on the internet via streaming channels such as YouTube. At the heart of their broadcast system is a Broadcast Pix integrated production switcher and control system that is receiving video both captured and controlled by a Vaddio Roboshot system with PTZ cameras in multiple meeting rooms in the facility and operated in the control room. The entire control room is controlled by a Crestron control system via a Crestron touch panel.
John explained that the city of Norfolk is extremely pleased with the equipment upgrade and the conversion from an analog to digital system. He reports that it allows for a much higher quality video production experience with an easier interface, which creates a shorter learning curve when it comes to training employees to operate the system.
In regards to John’s experience during the install, he described it as quick and painless. “Vicom was outstanding and completed the install in a really flexible and short time-frame.” When asked about any take-aways he had from the project, he explained that after the install, there were some tweaks that were needed based on their specific use of the system and that he was glad they had chosen an integrator who could respond immediately and adapt the system specifically to their needs, both quickly and efficiently.
